Street punk band Monster Squad formed in 1997 in Vacaville, California. Constant touring from 2003-2009 across the USA, UK and Europe earned them a dedicated fanbase. Despite harsh, shouted and screamed vocals; chugging, power chord driven guitar riffs with some metal style leads; and fast, simple, propulsive drums - the band has always been advocates for suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and harm reduction. After self-releasing multiple cassettes, splits, and CD’s, Charged Records released the official debut full length, ‘Strength Through Pain’ in 2004.
Jake Kolatis, guitarist of The Casualties, revived his early 2000’s punk label earlier this year with a new installment of the ‘Punx Unite’ series. The street punk brainchild of Kolatis, Charged Records kicked off in 1998, and released over 30 titles in the span of a decade before going on hiatus in 2008. The most notable releases from Charged include the four part 'Punx Unite' series, which showcased a very specific subset of spikey-haired 77/82 UK punk and oi inspired bands that were taking shape in the late 1990's and early 2000’s. In addition to the Punx Unite comps, Charged Records also released full length albums from Antidote, Street Brats, and Endless Struggle, among other punk heavy hitters.
